Variable Photos ❘ lookphotos
14248764 - This is a portrait of the faint but distinctive northern spring constellation of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown, located between Böotes and Hercules. The framing includes the two famous variable stars in CrB: R Coronae Borealis and T Coronae Borealis, to illustrrate their location and brightness (the latter as of early May 2024).
13999043 - The dusty blue reflection nebulas Messier 78 (bottom) and NGC 2071 (top) in Orion near the red arc of Barnard's Loop at left. A fan-shaped reflection nebula above NGC 2071 is not identified on any charts I had. Dark dust lanes run through the region and colour the sky brown. The tiny variable nebula known as McNeil's Nebula is below M78. Remarkably, some small 16th magnitude galaxies in the PGC catalog are recorded amid the dust at upper right in the frame.
13998842 - A porttait of the constellation of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown,in the northern spring sky. The brightest star is Alphecca. The frame contains the yellow supergiant and variable star R Coronae Borealis, aka Variabilis Coronae, below centre.
13848686 - A small Italian tree cricket with fully developed wings, so it can fly. It makes a sound of variable intensity which desorientates possible predators
13900592 - This is the nebula rich region in the constellation of Monoceros the Unicorn with the dark Cone Nebula (left of centre) and the small V-shaped and bright Hubble’s Variable Nebula at bottom, a reflection nebula that varies in form and brightness. Above the Cone Nebula is the triangular Christmas Tree Cluster, NGC 2264, here upside down as the bright blue star 15 Mon is the base of the tree. The large region of nebulosity is Sharpless 2-273. The V-shaped dark nebula above centre is LDN 1603.
13847894 - The Tachinidae are a large and variable family of true flies within the insect order Diptera, with more than 8,200 known species and many more to be discovered. Most are protelean parasitoids, or occasionally parasites, of arthropods.
