14089241 - 6Q modernist restaurant in Canet de Mar, Maresme Coast, 2023, Barcelona, Spain. Canet de Mar dresses in vintage to celebrate its colorful Modernista Market Festival with craft stalls and various cultural activities, which each year revolve around the art that emerged during this period, such as architecture, painting, cinema, etc. Canet de Mar returns for a weekend at the beginning of the 20th century, when this coastal town experienced a great moment of splendor that is still reflected today in its rich architectural heritage. Its streets are filled with stalls of artisan products and many sp

71471269 - Closeup of the Porta Rudiae in Lecce, Puglia, Italy. Oldest among the three still standing city gates that give access to the historic city centre.
14248701 - A selfie of me at the start of the great aurora show of May 10, 2024, with the aurora curtains still in the early evening twilight sky and looking very purple. Despite the clouds about.
14248642 - The Milky Way rising over the peak of Mt. Blakiston, in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada. This was June 10/11, 2024, so some snow still remains at high altitudes. This is an example of a "deepscape" — a nightscape taken with a longer focal length lens than is usual for nightscapes, to frame a fragment of a landscape below an interesting area of sky with notable deep-sky objects.

71442049 - Caceres, Spain, Extremadura, historical old court, even today, still, pure Middle Ages
71437605 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.

71430279 - Still life with cocoa beans and cocoa pod at Finca Kobo Chocolate Farm, near Barrigones, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, Central America
13900618 - The galactic centre area in Sagittarius (at left) and Scorpius (at right) low in the south on a summer night at Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta. This was June 30/July 1, 2022. Being just 10 days after summer solstice and at latitude +50° North, the sky even to the south still has a blue tint from all-night twilight. I made no attempt to neutralize the sky colouration. In addition, some haze from smoke discoloured the sky and reduced transparency and contrast low in the sky.
13899265 - An arc of a Kp4 level aurora on August 28, 2022, from home in southern Alberta (latitude 51° N), showing the classic oxygen greens topped by oxygen reds, but with magentas and blues at left to the northwest where sunlight might still be interacting with the auroral curtains.
13898833 - The Milky Way arching over Emerald Lake and Emerald Lake Lodge in Yoho National Park, BC. This was on June 6, 2016 and despite it being about 1:30 am, the sky, especially to the north at left, is still lit by blue twilight from the short solstice night.
13898290 - The summer Milky Way over and reflected in the relatively calm water of Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park, on a mid-October night. The Jasper Sky Tram adds the lights on Whistler Peak. Bands of airglow tint the sky with red. Lights from the Jasper townsite, still mostly unshielded sodium vapour lights as of 2022, add the skyglow at left. Altair is the bright star at top. The red Lagoon Nebula is just setting behind the mountain skyline. The slight wind rippled the water enough to prevent a perfect reflection.
13897424 - The 5-day-old waxing crescent Moon near the Beehive star cluster, Messier 44, in Cancer on the evening of May 10, 2019, set in the deep blue twilight sky, and with Earthshine still visible on the dark side of the Moon.
13877492 - Sunset Over True Blue Bay Resort. Sail Boats Refelected In The Still Waters; Grenada, Caribbean
13849361 - Some of the original stucco coating of the walls and floor are still present in the Palace on Patio 1 in the ruins of the Zapotec city of Yagul, near Oaxaca, Mexico.
13847030 - Porter Carrying Food and Camping Equipment on the Trek up Mount Rinjani, Lombok, Indonesia. These porters are incredible. They carry all the food and camping equipment for the three day trek to the summit of Mount Rinjani, which weighs about 35kg, and still power on ahead of the tourists!
13846851 - Large stucco masks on the ruins of a Mayan pyramid on the town square in Acanceh, Yucatan, Mexico. Traces of the original paint can still be seen.
13821208 - A small cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) still in its egg, about 1 cm whole size. Eyes, head and tentacles are already perfectly formed and defined, this means that only a few days are left to hatch, although the little cephalopod is still connected to its yolk sac. This picture is part of a work that features a special Italian place, Numana, on the Adriatic sea, where very specific geographical conditions make this spot a realm for underwater macro subjects, pretty much like Philippines or Indonesia.
71442051 - Caceres, Extremadura, Spain, Church of San Mateo, in the historic old town, 12th century, still pure Middle Ages,
71441031 - Ancient still behind the Palais Bénédictine, Fecamp, Normandy, France
71437601 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.
71437597 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.
13998396 - Mars amid the Beehive star cluster,Messier 44,in Cancer,on June 2,2023. The stars Asellus Borealis and Asesllus Australis are above and below Mars. The sky was still blue with summer twilight at my northern latitude, while light cloud covered much of the sky, adding the gradients and banding.
13900455 - The 4-day-old waxing crescent Moon on April 8, 2019 in a single exposure when the Moon was still in the bright blue twilight. Even so, the faint Earthshine is just becoming visible.
13900144 - The Big Dipper reflected in the still waters of the lake at Police Outpost Provincial Park, in southern Alberta, on September 26, 2016, with an aurora to the north at right. Only in autumn can one shoot the Dipper reflected in the water in the evening sky, as it is then riding low along the northern horizon. This is from a latitude of 49° N where the Dipper is circumpolar. It is also called the Plough in Great Britain.
13900025 - The rising autumn stars and constellations over and reflected in the lake at Police Outpost Provincial Park, in southern Alberta, on September 26, 2016. The stars of Auriga and Taurus are rising, including the Pleiades at upper right. Capella is the bright star above right centre; Aldebaran is below right in the sky. Both are reflected in the still water, along with the Hyades and Pleiades star clusters. A mild aurora is at left.
13898812 - Comet NEOWISE (C/2020 F3) over the still waters this night of Crawling Lake in southern Alberta. This was early in the evening with the sky still brightly coloured with twilight. The comet was in the southern part of Ursa Major between the pairs of stars called Tania and Talitha. The clouds that were present nicely framed the scene and reflected in the water as well. The comet was too high to be visible as a reflection at this time.
13848790 - Building Receptionist Dakota building. 1 West 72nd Street. This is a block of apartments built in 1884 by the same architectural firm that designed the Plaza Hotel, that is, Henry Janeway Hardenbergh. Here John Lennon lived and was assassinated at the entrance of the building in 1980, besides his wife Yoko Ono is still inhabitant of the farm. The building has also seen some movies like "The Devil's Seed." Today is one of the most desirable enclaves in the city.
13836520 - Spotted hyenas, Crocuta crocuta, feeding on wildebeest, Connochaetes taurinus, while still alive. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya, Africa.
13814019 - Orange clouds and Mount Moran reflected in still waters of the Snake River at Oxbow Bend at sunrise, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.
13814017 - Teton Range reflected in still waters of the Snake River at Schwabacher Landing, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.
71437604 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.
71437599 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.

13999617 - The passage of the SpaceX G2-9 Starlink group at about 3:30 am on May 15,2023,with the satellite chain still bright five days after its May 10 launch from Vandenburgh Air Force Base in California. This is most of the group, though a bright leader satellite did pass by a minute prior following the same path. The satellites were predicted to be magntiude 3.0 but appear as bright as first magnitude stars. This is looking northwest toward the Big Dipper at top. The glow of morning twilight brightening the sky. The satellite train is traveling from left to right here, from southwest to north. This is
13998433 - This was the nearly Full Moon on August 29,2023,on the night before the official "Super Blue Full Moon" of August 30. I shot it here when it was still low in the sky and yellowed by smoke and dust, and set in the deep blue twilight sky.
13900496 - An arc of modest aurora borealis (Northern Lights) across the northern horizon, above a prairie meadow in the light of a bright waxing gibbous Moon, a day before Full. This was just after midnight on July 11/12, 2022 when the sky was also still lit by summer twilight colours, and with a weak display of noctilucent clouds also visible low in the northwest at left. The auroral curtains exhibit the usual green band and rays, but also upper altitude reds and purples and a faint blue tint at the very tops where the aurora is lit by the Sun. The aurora was never bright this night (Kp Index was 3 or
13900174 - Mars (at left in clouds) and the summer Milky Way over Lake Herbert and reflected in the still waters this night. This is in Banff National Park, Alberta. I shot this July 17, 2018 on a night that gradually clouded up, after a run of two very good nights previous to this.
13900106 - The thin waning 26-day-old Moon low in the dawn sky and reddened from the low altitude and twilight colours, but still showing some Earthshine on the dark side of the Moon.
13898793 - Circumpolar star trails on a moonlit night in the Gila National Forest in southern New Mexico, north of Pinos Altos. Polaris is at upper left, the Little Dipper hanging below it, and the stars of the Big Dipper are rising at right, with the end star of the handle still to clear the horizon. Illumination is from the waxing quarter Moon. The night had a lot of high cloud drifting through, adding the streaks and patchiness to the sky.
13898634 - A 360° panorama of Bow Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta on a very dark and clear night, July 17, 2018. The Milky Way toward the galactic core lies above Bow Glacier at right. Saturn is reflected in the still waters.
13898457 - The waxing gibbous Moon over Upper Waterton Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta with the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel in the distance, on a calm evening with still waters, rare in Waterton. This is an HDR stack of 3 exposures with the Canon 60Da and 16-35mm lens, shot from Driftwood Beach.
13898367 - Jupiter (at right) and Saturn (at left) shining brightly in the sky and reflected in the still waters of Maskinonge Lake at Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, on June 17/18, 2018. The Milky Way is at left, Scorpius is at centre, and two satellite trails are at top. The sky is blue with solstice twilight. The trees on the opposite shore are charred from the Kenow Fire in September 2017. In the distance are Sofa Mountain and Viny Peak.
13848714 - The Flamingo hotel and casino in Las Vegas. The hotel opened by Bugsy Segal on 1946 and it's the oldest resort on the Strip still in operation
13845104 - An Antlion on a grass halm; they are very difficult to spot as they can remain still for a long time
13836521 - Spotted hyenas, Crocuta crocuta, feeding on a wildebeest, Connochaetes taurinus, while still alive.
13836505 - A mother Masai giraffe, Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi, with its newborn calf still with the umbilical cord. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya, Africa.
13791530 - Still Lake At Rannoch Moor
71447932 - Chile; Southern Chile; Magallanes region; Mountains of the southern Cordillera Patagonica; Seno Ultima Esperanza near Puerto Natales; Rain clouds darken the landscape; a cloud is still illuminated by the sun;
71442050 - Caceres, Extremadura, penitent statue in the old town, in front of the cathedral still pure Middle Ages, Spain
71437606 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.
71437603 - The Grand Canyon as seen from the South Rim in Arizona. The large gorge was eroded over millions of years by weather and the Colorado river that still runs through it. The reddish tint it has is due to the iron contained in the rock's minerals that oxide.

71433381 - Grasshoppers are still very common in Germany
13999498 - A framing of the converging rays of aurora overhead at the magnetic zenith,a little south of the true zenith at 90° altitude. This was the superb Kp6 to 7 display on March 23,2023,with the aurora mostly in a pulsating mode rather than forming rippling curtains. This was early on in the evening when the sky still had some twilight colours, and with sunlight illuminating the high curtains. Orion is at lower right.

13985238 - Reflections In Perfectly Still Small Lake Below Sgurr Dearg And Sgurr Alasdair In The Black Cuillin,Isle Of Skye,Scotland
13900261 - The stars of the Big Dipper over the iconic peak of Pyramid Mountain from Pyramid Island, a popular location in Jasper National Park, Alberta, for nightscape and aurora photography. This was on a very clear night in mid-October, 2022, with many aspen stands still in full autumn colour. The images for this scene were shot at moonrise, with the waning gibbous Moon off frame at right lighting the sky blue and landscape with warm alpenglow moonlight. As bonus, a short bright meteor and its orange "smoke" trail appeared on the sky exposures. I shot this during the first weekend of the 2022 Jasper D
13899296 - The rising of the Full Moon on Easter eve, Saturday, March 31, 2018, on a very cold night with lots of snow still on the ground in Alberta. So this is more a winter Moon than a spring one. This is the “paschal” Moon – the one that defines the date of Easter, being the first Full Moon after the vernal equinox. The first Sunday after that Full Moon, in this case the next day, is Easter Sunday.
13899230 - ull Moon setting over Rocky Mountains, taken from Rothney Astrophysical Observatory on August 28, 2007, night of total eclipse of the Moon. Umbral eclipse was over by moonset though the Moon was still in penumbral eclipse. Taken with Canon 20Da camera and 135mm lens at ISO800 and f/4.5 for 1/160 sec. Moon in blue of Earth's shadow on atmosphere.
13898578 - The Full Moon at the equinox, on March 20, 2019, reaching full phase only fours hours after the moment of the vernal equinox, and here captured rising very shortly before the moment of the Full Moon. I shot this while the Moon was still rising and in a deep blue sky, and tinted yellow from atmospheric absorption. Even so, this is a blend of short (for the Moon) and long (for the sky) exposures to capture the dynamic range.
13897910 - This is Comet NEOWISE (C/2020 F3) over the Horseshoe Canyon formation near Drumheller, Alberta on the night iof July 10-11, 2020, taken about 2 a.m. MDT with the comet just past lower culmination with it circumpolar at this time. Warm light from the rising waning gibbous Moon provides the illumination. The comet’s faint blue ion tail is just barely visible even in the moonlit sky and low altitude. The glow of summer perpetual twilight at latitude 51.5° N still colours the northern horizon despite this being close to the middle of the night.
13897728 - Comet NEOWISE (C/2020 F3) over the still waters this night of Crawling Lake in southern Alberta. The Big Dipper is at top. Even in this short exposure, the two tails — dust and ion — are visible. This was July 20, 2020. The blue ion tail is extending up into the Bowl of the Big Dipper, for some 20° in length. Very impressive!
13897553 - The partial eclipse of the Sun, October 23, 2014, as seen from Jasper, Alberta, in this case shot through thin cloud but that makes for a more interesting photo than one in a clear sky. This is still shot through a mylar filter, on the front of a 66mm f/6 apo refractor using the Canon 60Da for 1/25 sec exposure at ISO 100. The colours are natural, with the mylar filter providing a neutral “white light” image. With the Sun dimmed a lot by cloud, the longer exposure allowed picking up light and colours in the surrounding clouds.
