A panorama of weak Kp1-level auroral arcs in the moonlight, on February 15, 2024, from the deck of the Churchill Northern Studies Centre, Manitoba. This is an example of the kind of low-level aurora that is almost always present at locations like Churchill under the main auroral oval. The northerly lower arc did not appear until close to midnight, as is typical for weak displays. It was then joined by the broad dim arc at centre reaching overhead. Some smoke in the air made the rising Moon even redder than normal,making it look like an eclipsed Moon. This night the alignment of the rising point of the Full Moon coincided with the angle of the powerlines off to the southeast at 135° azimuth.

A small cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) still in its egg, about 1 cm whole size. Eyes, head and tentacles are already perfectly formed and defined, this means that only a few days are left to hatch, although the little cephalopod is still connected to its yolk sac. This picture is part of a work that features a special Italian place, Numana, on the Adriatic sea, where very specific geographical conditions make this spot a realm for underwater macro subjects, pretty much like Philippines or Indonesia.
