Monoceros Photos – License unique travel photos ❘ lookphotos
14249316 - This frames two contrasting nebulas on the border of Canis Major and Monoceros. At top is the large Seagull Nebula or IC 2177, an area of mostly red hydrogen-alpha emission and is a region of star formation, though it contains some blue reflection nebulas.
14249052 - This is the nebula-rich region of Monoceros the Unicorn, containing the bright Rosette Nebula, NGC 2237, below the fainter and larger complex of nebulosity, NGC 2264, which contains the small (on this scale) Cone Nebula.
14248841 - This is a wide-angle view of the southern Milky Way, here from Carina and Crux at lower left up to Orion and Monoceros at upper right. This was shot from latitude 31° S on an austral autumn night, March 3, 2024.
14249072 - This frames a region along the Milky Way on the borders of: northern Canis Major, southern Monoceros, and northern Puppis. It is rich in nebulas and, in particular, open star clusters. The field is 10º tall by 15º wide, so roughly twice the width of a binocular field of view.
14248669 - This portrait frames the constellation of Orion, plus parts of Monoceros to the left and Gemini and Taurus above, composed to include most of the emission and reflection nebulas in this rich region along the Milky Way.
13898988 - The area of the Rosette Nebula (bottom) and Christmas Tree Cluster (top) in Monoceros with the Fornax Lightrack tracker and 200mm lens + Canon 5D MkII. The nebulosity at top includes the Cone Nebula.
13999007 - The star cluster Messier 50 in Monoceros the Unicorn,in a wide-field telephoto image simulating the feld of view of binoculars. The Seagull Nebula shows up at bottom. To the left is the cluster NGC 2353.
13898359 - Orion, Canis Major & Monoceros, taken from the Painted Pony Resort in New Mexico, March 14, 2013. A stack of 5 x 6 minute exposures at f/3.2 with the 35mm Canon L-series lens and 5D MkII at ISO 800, plus a layer of 2 x 4 minutes with the Kenko Softon filter for the star glows. M46, M47 and M41 clusters all visible at left and lower centre.
13897822 - The area near Sirius (at lower right) including the Seagull Nebula (at top left) also called IC 2177, on the Canis Major-Monoceros border.
13900592 - This is the nebula rich region in the constellation of Monoceros the Unicorn with the dark Cone Nebula (left of centre) and the small V-shaped and bright Hubble’s Variable Nebula at bottom, a reflection nebula that varies in form and brightness. Above the Cone Nebula is the triangular Christmas Tree Cluster, NGC 2264, here upside down as the bright blue star 15 Mon is the base of the tree. The large region of nebulosity is Sharpless 2-273. The V-shaped dark nebula above centre is LDN 1603.
13899200 - The Rosette Nebula (aka NGC 2237) in Monoceros, an emission nebula and site of star formation in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way. The star cluster at the centre of the nebula is NGC 2244.

70424132 - [DC], Male Narwhal (monodon monoceros) in clear blue ocean water near surface, View from below.
70057997 - Masked bannerfish, Heniochus monoceros, Maldives Islands, Indian ocean, Ari Atol, Atoll
70276645 - Masked Bannerfish and Diver, Heniochus monoceros, Maldives, Himendhoo Thila, North Ari Atoll
