Papua New Guinea, Western Highlands Province, Mendi, Tambul village, ‘Savings Lives, Spreading Smiles' program is being delivered to help mothers protect their babies from hyperthermia. Developed by UNICEF, a simple device called ‘Bebi Kol Kilok,' consists of a wrist band that alerts parents to a fall in the newborn's body temperature. Community volunteers received training to educate mothers on the use of the device and how to warm their babies.
